In precision turning, a dimensional error of a few hundredths of a millimetre can render a component unusable. Discovering it at the end of production means scrap, delays and additional costs. Discovering it during production means take immediate action, before the problem multiplies.

That is why at MI.SO. control does not start when production ends: it starts with production, and accompanies it until the last piece.

 

The quality control process at MI.SO.

Our control system is divided into precise stages, each with specific instrumentation and objectives.

1. First Before an order enters full production, the first part produced is fully checked. Every dimension, tolerance and finish is compared with the specifications in the technical drawing. Only after this validation does production proceed.

This step is crucial: it identifies any deviations in the machine setup before they result in hundreds of non-conforming parts.

2. During production, parts are sampled and checked at regular intervals. This makes it possible to monitor process stability and intercept dimensional drifts in real time, before they become a quality problem.

The 130 daily checks we perform at MI.SO. mainly include this phase: a continuous verification which guarantees consistency from the beginning to the end of each batch.

3. At the end of production, each order undergoes a final inspection. The customer receives a certificate of conformity with full traceability to ISO 9001:2015, which documents the measurements taken and confirms compliance with the required specifications.

 

The instrumentation: precision for every need

Quality control is only as effective as the tools with which it is performed. At MI.SO. we have a full equipment, chosen to cover different types of verification.

Optical measuring system with spindle. It combines speed and accuracy optimally for series inspection: it allows the measurement of dozens of dimensions in seconds, making the volume of 130 daily inspections sustainable without slowing down production.

Zeiss O-Inspect 322

Co-ordinate measuring machine with optical and probing system. It offers high accuracy and a wide measuring range, and is the tool of choice for in-depth sampling, first-piece validation and verification of complex geometries. Zeiss is the industry standard for applications requiring the highest dimensional reliability.

Supporting instrumentation

To complete the system, we use specific tools for targeted checks:

  • Profile projector: for quick profile and geometry checks
  • Hardness tester: for checking surface hardness after heat treatment
  • Rugosimeterfor measuring surface finish
  • Comparator: for quick and comparative checks
  • Micrometersfor the dimensional verification of incoming materials
  • Calipers: used directly in production by operators
  • Calibrated pads (internal and external): for checking threads and holes in production
