OT58

Used for handles and decorative components.

L'OT58 is a brass alloy (CuZn39Pb3) widely used in mechanical small parts, thanks to its excellent workability, good mechanical strength and excellent machinability.

For a production with diameters between 3 and 32 mm and lengths up to 250 mmlike yours, is a perfect material for precision components.

Why use OT58?

1
Excellent workability and machinability
- Contains 3% lead (Pb), which facilitates cutting and reduces tool wear
- Perfect for high-speed automatic and CNC lathes.
2
Good mechanical strength and hardness
- Tensile strength between 300-400 MPa
- High hardness (approx. HB 90-120), excellent for structural components
3
Excellent corrosion resistance
- Weather and water resistant
- Ideal for hydraulic, oil-hydraulic and gas systems
4
Good electrical and thermal conductivity
- Perfect for electrical and electronic components
5
Easy to braze and weld
- Suitable for assembly by brazing and tin soldering
6
Aesthetic appearance and polishability
- Can be polished, chrome-plated or nickel-plated to improve aesthetics

When to avoid OT58?

If needed high resistance to wear and fatigue (better steel or bronze)

In environments with acids or ammonia (risk of dezincification corrosion)

If you need a extreme temperature resistance (>200°C, preferably stainless steel)
