The 17NiCrMo6-4 is a steel alloyed nickel-chromium-molybdenumdesigned to be cementedi.e. treated to obtain ahigh surface hardness combined with a tenacious and resistant heart. It is a widely used material for components subject to surface wear e dynamic stresses.
Perfectly workable in precision small parts with diameters between 3 and 32 mm e lengths up to 250 mmIt is suitable for production on CNC and multispindle lathes.
Why use 17NiCrMo6-4 - Case hardening alloy steel?
- Excellent internal toughness thanks to the bainitic/martensitic microstructure
- Excellent behaviour at shocks and cyclical loads
- High service life even in environments with imperfect lubrication
- Can be easily ground after heat treatment
- Also compatible with nitriding and light reclamation
Typical applications of 17NiCrMo6-4 - Case hardening alloy steel
Automotive and transmissions
Precision Mechanics
Hydraulics and robotics
Agricultural and earthmoving machinery
Locking mechanisms
When to avoid 17NiCrMo6-4 - Case hardening alloy steel?
If it is not possible to perform the heat treatment (without cementing the material has limited characteristics)
If you want to avoid expensive and time-consuming treatments post-processing
Where they are needed high corrosion resistance (not stainless steel)
